To Rome, With Love: A Timeless Affair

It’s been some time since our last update, and we appreciate your continued support.  Over the past year, our focus shifted to home tours, photoshoots, and pop-up events, with travel temporarily placed on hold, though not intentionally.

We’re happy to share that our travel journeys have resumed, and excited to bring you fresh insights and destination recommendations.  Our first stop: Rome, Italy.  It was our inaugural visit, and the city did not disappoint.

Live updates from our "Roman Holiday" were posted on our instagram.  We shared moments as we strolled the ancient streets of Rome, bringing you along on this beautiful journey.

Catch all the highlights under “ROME” on our Instagram profile. We saved the stories just for you.

A view from my hotel rooftop, Hotel delle Civette, that was truly nothing short of breathtaking.  The moment I arrived, I was invited to the rooftop while my room was being prepared for my stay.  Honestly, I lingered far longer than expected as my breath was literally taken away!  There, surrounded by the calm and charm of Italy, something shifted.  I could feel myself softening, slowing down and falling in sync with the peaceful rhythm of this beautiful city.

One of my favorite ways to save while traveling is to book a hotel that includes breakfast.  It's often a generous buffet style spread, perfect for fueling up before a full day of exploring.

By enjoying a hearty breakfast, I usually find I can skip lunch entirely.  That way, come dinnertime, I can treat myself to something special without the guilt of overspending, especially after a day filled with walking and sightseeing.

At Hotel delle Civette, the breakfast area was as charming as it was cozy.  Elegant décor, comfortable seating, and a serene view of Rome made each morning feel like a quiet luxury.

A whole new meaning to "A Room with a View".  Waking up to this view was a true pinch me moment every single morning.  The charm of classic Italian shutters, wrought iron balconies, and cascading plants felt like stepping into the pages of a storybook.

One of the most delightful details were the original key, an actual key, not a plastic card, came with instructions to leave it at the front desk whenever you left the hotel.  With 24 hour concierge service, you could return at any time and be welcomed back with ease.

It felt like something out of an old movie.  A small but beautiful reminder that I was somewhere timeless.  I loved every minute of it.

There's something about European doors that always stop me in my tracks.  Whether I'm wandering the streets of Italy, France, or even Morocco (stay tuned for that blog post!), I'm endlessly captivated by their charm, ornate wooden carvings, aged patinas, and whimsical transoms that feel like they belong in a fairytale.

Each door tells a story, and I often catch myself imagining what it would be like to live behind one, walking up to it as if I belonged there, heart full and proudly calling it home.

With so much to see and do, it's no surprise that Rome is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.  From iconic landmarks like the Colosseum and the Spanish Steps to countless museums and statues steeped in Roman history, the city is a living, breathing open air museum.

To make the most of your visit, I recommend creating a list of must-see spots ahead of time.  Planning your route helps maximize your time and makes navigating the city much easier.  Rome's metro system is surprisingly efficient, and buses can take you almost anywhere you need to go.

The hotel concierge was incredibly helpful, and I still swear by an old fashioned paper map, though I have to admit, it always gives me away as a visitor (no matter how much I try to blend in with the locals!).

Suggested Itinerary Tips:

  • Ancient Rome: Start with the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. These sites are clustered together, so it's easier to explore them in one day. Book tickets in advance to skip the lines.
  • Vatican City: Spend the day at the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. It's a full day, so wear comfortable shoes.
  • Heart of Rome: Stroll through Piazza Navona, toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain, visit the Pantheon, and climb the Spanish Steps.
  • Trastevere & Hidden Gems: Wander the charming Trastevere neighborhood, known for it's cobbled streets, cozy cafés, and local vibe.  Take a cooking class to round our your experience (I ran out of time to do this one).

There's nothing quite like getting lost in a city as enchanting as Rome.  Wandering without a map, letting the cobblestone paths lead the way, you often find yourself in the most unexpected corners.  And just when the hunger begins to set in, you stumble upon a quiet, tucked away street.  It's in these unplanned moments, locating a restaurant, and seated at a small table with a glass of wine, that Rome truly reveals it's soul.

I hope this inspires you to plan your own trip to Italy and explore this breathtaking, historic city, a place that truly feels like a piece of art that comes to life.
