An Eclectic vs. A Maximalist Home

We have often wondered what's the difference between an eclectic home and maximalist home, if both are designed in a tasteful manner. It is full of color, antiques and vintage pieces collected? How about furniture covering every nook and cranny of the room? We can mistake clutter with eclectic, and more is more with maximalist.

We appreciate all design whether eclectic, maximalist or minimalist. We love bold colors, patterns and a room full of collectibles, just as much as neutral tones with subtle objects and sculptures.

HOW TO CREATE AN ECLECTIC & MAXIMALIST HOME:

Don't be afraid to add color to a room. Select an art piece or carpet, and pull focal point colors from there. Pulling colors from an item you already own will help bring the colors to life on a bigger scale.

Get bold with the sofa color. We all love neutral tones because they're safe. We don't want to risk the investment on a bold colored sofa should we get tired of it later. That's what reupholstery is for! Don't buy a new sofa. Get it reupholstered in a color or patten you can obviously live with for many years.

Decorative objects can add subtle texture to your home, like a small sculpture, decorative vase, candleholders and colored taper candles. Accessorize your space! It's like adding earrings, a necklace and bracelets to an outfit.
